New Class Structure

Adult Classes

  • All classes will be fundamentals classes and they will be 1 hour long
  • Classes will be approx. 40 min of instruction followed by 20 minutes of drilling or sparring
  • Students will stay partnered with the same person throughout class and will continue with that partner for the entire sparring session
  • Students will arrive no sooner than 10 minutes before class and come dressed for class if possible, as the locker rooms will be closed until further notice
  • When class is over, all students will immediately leave the mat area so that it can be cleaned and sprayed with disinfectant
  • Any student who has had a fever or displayed any symptoms of being sick should not attend class for 14 days from the date of their last symptom

Youth

  • All classes will be 45 minutes long and there will be no sparring
  • Students will stay partnered with the same person throughout class
  • Students will arrive no sooner than 10 minutes before class and come dressed for class if possible, as the locker rooms will be closed until further notice
  • Any student who has had a fever or displayed any symptoms of being sick should not attend class for 14 days from the date of their last symptom

Additional safety measures to be taken during this transitional phase include

  • All surfaces that people frequently touch with their hands such as door knobs, door handles, toilet seat, etc., will be sanitized between each class
  • Students will be temperature screened upon entering the building
  • It is also recommended that students wash their hands and use hand sanitizer prior to getting on the mat

I realize that for some, this deviation from our previous schedule will be an adjustment.  However, after being away from classes for three months, this modified schedule would allow us to slowly ease back into jiu-jitsu and let our bodies gradually get re-acclimated to training.  In addition, I would also recommend that everyone limit themselves to a maximum of three (3) classes per week for the first couple weeks.  Hopefully, it will not be too long before we can return to the old schedule and full capacity.
